Curtis DVD player - Stuck

Curtis DVD player - Stuck in Load Mode so won't open - dvd inside - correctly seated - but may not be compatible. I just burned it & was testing it.)Have tried the paper clip in the tray release hole - but this doesn't work - probably because the machine is load mode. Need ideas on how to get it out of load mode.MD
