Cut back ODIs - Vengsarkar?

Question

India chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarker has called for a reduction of one-day internationals in favour of more Test matches, and his thoughts have been echoed by Sri Lanka chairman Arjuna Ranatunga.

Is this the right way to go. Do india play too many One day matches, and not enough test matches. For example England tour india, and play only 2 test matches, as opposed to 7 one dayers.

Yes.  Now a days more number of ODI matches are played qt the cost of test matches.   In order to keep the interest in test cricket, the number of test matches should not be reduced to

accommodate more ODI matches.

I would say cut down the number of all cricket matches because all matches are tiring. There should be some kind of healthy proportion between ODIs and Test matches. Vengi doesn't know what he is talking half of the time.

I too think it's a good proposal to play more tests, even if it means the reduction of  the number of ODI matches. If India and Sri Lanka boards succeed in increasing the number of tests, then it will benefit both teams. Tests are the real cricket, and cricketers need to play more of them. The England tour schedule comprising  only 2 tests, and as much as 7 ODIs doesn't seem rational. They need to strike a balance between tests and ODIs. Besides, the public interest in ODIs has gone down a lot, with the increasing popularty of T20, and now most people prefer to go for the shortest version of the game. But since tests are a different ball game alltogether, the interest and enthusiasm for test is still alive in the hearts of the true cricket fans. So, increasing the number of test matches doesn't seem a bad idea at all.

this is just a cover up after icc alleged that test cricket is loosing its way ..

the truth is nobody is interested in test cricket .. then why not get away with it ..
