DE-Winterize?

Before I take my boat to the lake this weekend, I would like to change the impellor and oil on my two stroke MARINER 60HP. How do I go about this? Also want to clean the engine with water? Plse advise

  1. I personally wouldn't touch the impeller unless you know it's faulty.  Have you had overheating problems, engine running hot, etc.?  If not, leave it alone.

    It's a 2 stroke, so I'm a little confused which "oil" you want to change - since there's no crankcase oil.  I assume you mean the gear oil.  If so, there's usually a drain s***w toward the bottom of the lower unit, and a vent s***w toward the top.  Unscrew both and let it drain out.  Then, you should have a pump that attaches to a standard quart of oil, and you pump it up into the gear case just until it drips out of the open vent s***w hole on top.  Then you just s***w both plugs back in.  You may or may not need to replace the little gaskets on these 2 s***w plugs.  I don't unless they look beat up.
