So since my computer is kinda old, it doesn't have a DVD burner, so I was wondering, if there was a cable that you connect to the computer and the DVD recorder and you play something on the computer and it records it on the DVD disc. i.e. like you can watch a TV show and record it, that you could watch something the same way off the computer, like a video from YouTube, that you could record anything that happens in the computer. If there is any such cable, what is it called?

  1. Since it's an older computer, your most likely chance (1 in 10 maybe) is an svideo port.  It's a round connector with 1 larger pin opening and 4 smaller ones around the edge.  There should be the same one on your dvd-r.  Otherwise smaller possibilty of the normal yellow rca jack.  Either way if you do have one of these on your computer it would be close to your monitor cable.

  2. You can technically purchase a external DVD drive recorder for your computer and record any music, movies, photos or videos onto the DVD disc.  Most external DVD drives requires that you have a USB plug or Firewire plug on your desktop computer or laptop.  USB plug is more common with most computers.  A external DVD drive will cost your around $110.00 or less.

You will definitely need a USB cable from your DVD drive to your computer.  Here is a picture of a external DVD drive from Best Buy.
