DVR Help needed?

Hello

I just got a DVR. I want to know do the TV and DVR need to be switched on for a show to record?

If the TV can remain off should the DVR has power atleast?

  1. The TV and DVR are using a separate video feed, so the TV doesn't need to be on for the DVR to do its thing.

    Most DVRs can't actually be turned "off" anyways - they have to remain powered on so they know when it's time to record your shows.


  2. I use a DVR and I am able to record one show while watching another.  I can also record up to two shows as long as it's on one of the channels I am recording.  I am able to turn of the tv and go on about my business. As long as my DVR is just on stand by it will turn on to record.  hope this helps.
