Liverpool’s parent company, Fenway Sports Group sacked manager Kenny Dalglish from his post on Wednesday, in view of the Reds dismal Premier League campaign.
The 61-year old was summoned to Boston by the club’s owners, to discuss the reasons of the team’s failure to make it into the top-four and the measures which need to be taken in order to put up a better show in the coming term. And after carefully scrutinizing
and dissecting the Reds dismal campaign, the Club felt that it was pertinent that Dalglish’s contract be terminated.
The Scott took over the management of the Merseyside outfit from Roy Hodgson in January last year. It was his second stint as a manager at Anfield, having also coached the Reds from 1985-1991. Even though he enjoyed stupendous success during his first term
in charge steering Liverpool to three league wins and two FA Cup triumphs, his second stint has been one of the lows of his illustrious career. Liverpool finished the 2011/12 season at eighth place with 52 points, their lowest tally since 1954.
However, the club’s principal owner John Henry acknowledged the efforts of the Liverpool legend, and mentioned that he will always remain a part of the family at Anfield.

Dalglish also represented Liverpool in 501 games in all competitions, and is considered as one of the club’s greatest players of all time. As a player, he won 6 league titles and 4 League Cup accolades.
Henry also indicated that the process of selecting the new manager is already afoot, and was hopeful that the club will be able to build on the foundations laid down by Dalglish.

He said: “We owe him a great debt of gratitude. However, results in the Premier League have been disappointing and we believe to build on the progress that has already been made, we need to make a change.”
He went on to say that Liverpool is considered as one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and some tough decisions had to be taken in order to return Champions League football at Anfield.
