Question:

Dare to think?

How do you use your imagination to explain the nature world around you? Doesn't mean its right, but it doesn't mean its false either. To the perceptions of the individuals reality is as they construct it. In social networks how individuals percieve their existance is within the social norms of any given society.

The challenge is a dare to think - question and use your imagination. So how do you use your imagination to explain that which cannot be explained? Even if such explainations are not universal truths, but rather simply personal beliefs.

  1. The field of study you need to pursue is called "epistemology."

Your imagination may cause you to believe something, but belief is not knowledge. For an explanation to be true it must be based on knowledge. Knowledge requires fact, not guesses.

[I just don't think such people have any business trolling forums that deal with subjects that are highly subjective and not necessarily scientific.]

Category: SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS > Alternative > Parapsychology

Since you are posting in the SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS category, you should expect to get scientific answers. If you don't like that try posting in R&S. I see no reason why parapsychology should not be held to the standards that scientific things require.

  2. If you imagine something to explain something in nature and you haven't imagined correctly it does make it false.

  3. I love this question.

When I wake up (usually in the morning) I often imagine that there is a world outside waiting to be experienced.  Almost like it's all out there just happening even when I'm not aware that it's there.  I know it might be hard to understand, but I believe in things that I can't see, oh, and it helps me to actually drag my butt out of bed and get to work.

And about work, I have this ongoing fantasy that I'm actually doing something that is being appreciated by people that I've never met.  Kinda like there are some people out there looking at what I've done and saying, "Wow!  I'm happy somebody thought of that!"  The reality is that they keep paying me and they haven't thrown me out yet, so my fantasy world is being validated!

When you talk about those "unexplainable phenomenon", I assume that you are talking about psi phenomenon or paranormal events.  This might not seem valid to you, but most of the things that people consider unexplainable in psi, I'm comfortable with.  Either I have personal experience which has provided me evidence, or I'm just not pushing the envelope in those areas.  Now, when it comes to the paranormal, like big foot, or yeti, or area 51, (everything except ghosts), I have a vivid imagination!

Big foots (or is it Big feet?) seem to exist and have some sort of hidden society deep in the lowlands in OK and in the forests of the Pacific NW.  I like to think of them as communal beings that have an uncanny ability to "disappear".  They have a societal tendency toward mysticism which leads them to bury or burn their dead.  They also are almost purely vegitarian (and sometimes I imagine them wearing Doc Martins with socks and listening to Reggae).

Aliens exist and they are teasing us.  They hang out in bars with us and alternate between acting like obnoxious right wingers and wussy lefties.  Sometimes, to mix it up, they throw in a French accent.  They don't really feel a need to examine our anatomy since they're pretty aware of how we work.  They just like using probes.  Sometimes, they set off fireworks when it's not even July.

I could go on, but you don't really want to see all of the way into the depths of a twisted mind.  I'll just leave this with a reassurance that I know that this is all just imaginary, but it doesn't make it any less fun!

    EDIT:

OK, so you want to know HOW I use my imagination to learn.  It's really very simple:

    -  Look for issues that interest me.

    -  Thoroughly examine the facts that I know.

    -  Formulate a clear question that I want to answer.

    -  Try to put myself in a state of mind where I can extend my conciousness and freely associate thoughts.

    -  Focus on the question and allow random thoughts to surface (that's the imagination part).

    -  Take each thought individually and see if it can be supported based on the facts that I started with.

    -  Develop a theory based on the thoughts that seem viable (more imagination).

    -  Test out the theories until I conclude that they are either viable or blatantly false.

    -  Wash, rinse, repeat.

I hope this is more in line with what you were looking for.  Thanks again for the question!

BTW, my previous answer wasn't disrespecting your question or just a series of unstructured ramblings.  It is based on my views of how we build our reality from our beliefs (and imagination), and how some questions, regardless of how much they are studied, will likely result in a mish-mash of imagined opinions until further evidence is discovered.

  4. ok ... good question. The way I see it is this.

In the physical body, your eyes look outward - though it views objects upside down. It next sends the message of what it observes... to the brain, which interprets the image and makes it appear the right way up to us.

Science has discovered that it would appear that the pineal gland is very much like an eye (it contains the same rods and cones as our eyes) It is the Spiritual Third Eye, our Minds eye. It is located in the geometric center of the cranium.

The Pineal Gland is about the size of a pea (but shaped like a pine cone), and is in the center of the brain in a tiny cave, behind and above the pituitary gland, which lies a little behind the root of the nose. It is located directly behind the eyes, attached to the third ventricle.

The true function of this mysterious gland, has long been contemplated by philosophers and Spiritual Adepts. Ancient Greeks believed the pineal gland, to be our connection to the Realms of Thought. Descartes called it, the Seat of the Soul.

When the pineal gland awakens, one feels a pressure at the base of the brain. This pressure will often be experienced, when connecting to higher frequency. A head injury, can also activate the Third Eye - Pineal Gland

While the physiological function of the pineal gland, has been unknown until recent times, mystical traditions and esoteric schools, have long known, this area in the middle of the brain, to be the connecting link... between the physical and spiritual worlds.

Considered the most powerful and highest source of ethereal energy, available to humans, the pineal gland has always been important, especially for people like us ... who wish to be psychics and mediums

because basically ..... it is the minds "eye" .... proof that what mystics have been saying for years is infact true.

When activated, the pineal gland becomes the line of communication, with the higher planes. The crown chakra, reaches down, until its vortex touches the pineal gland. Prana, or pure energy, is received through this energy center in the head. With Practice, the vibration level of the astral body is raised, allowing it, to separate from the physical.

To activate the 'third eye' and perceive higher dimensions, the pineal gland and the pituitary body, must vibrate in unison, which is achieved through meditation and / or relaxation. When a correct relationship is established, between personality, operating through the pituitary body, and the soul, operating through the pineal gland, a magnetic field is created.

The negative and positive forces, interact and become strong enough, to create the 'light in the head. ' With this 'light in the head' activated, astral projectors can withdraw themselves, from the body, carrying the light with them.

Knowledge and memory of the astral plane, are not registered in full waking consciousness, until the intuition becomes strong enough. Flashes of intuition come, with increasing consistency, as the 'third eye' is activated to a greater degree, through practice. Universal Knowledge... can also be acquired.

The pineal gland, corresponds with divine thought, after being touched by the vibrating light of Kundalini. Kundalini starts its ascent, towards the head center, after responding to the vibrations from the "light in the head"

The light is located at the top of the sutratma, or \'soul thread\', which passes down from the highest plane of our being... into the physical vehicle.

The 'third eye,' or 'Eye of Siva,' the organ of spiritual vision, is intimately related to karma, as we become more spiritual in the natural course of evolution.

As human beings continue to evolve, further out of matter, on the journey from spirit to matter... back to spirit, the pineal gland will continue to rise from its state of age - long dormancy, bringing back to humanity... astral capacities and spiritual abilities.

At certain brain wave frequencies, a sense of "ego boundary" vanishes. In the "theta" state, we are resting deeply and still conscious, at the threshold of drifting away from or back into conscious awareness. As the brain enters deeper states, our consciousness is less concerned with the physical state, our 'third eye' is active, and separation becomes natural.

Many Native traditions and mystical practices, refer to the ability of 'seeing,' (clairvoyance) or being aware of energy fields, at higher levels.

This abstract awareness, is much more subjective and does not involve the normal level of mundane consciousness, which is mostly concerned with self - identity. This "seeing' refers to the sight of the 'third eye'.

Consciousness is raised, from an emotional nature, into an illumined Awareness, when the pineal gland is activated.

So basically using your imagination (minds eye) is how we connect to the spiritual realms and I guess God.

This is what was meant in the Bible when it was said that the way into heaven was to see the world with the eyes of a child. (use your imagination)

We teach this and much more at my site, if you are interested feel free to drop by sometime. Its totally free and everyone is welcome as long as your over 18.

    Hope this helps :o)

  5. I leave it to the gross distortions of the liberal media, the nuts in Hollywood and Hillary Clinton to define my reality for me can't you tell?

I was born and raised  a 'free thinker'. You'll have to go back more than a few decades to understand what that means.

  6. i really have no idea what you are asking, but going off of your first lines, how your brain explains the world around you and not being true.  You should check out the mcgurk effect, on how your brain blends what it sees and what it hears to arise at an improper conclusion.  Also, have you ever been driving and seen water on a hill, only to have it not there?  It your brain seeing the  bent rays of the sky that is changed becauseof the refraction index, into bending the sky light into your eyes. Your brain doesn't know how to interpret sky coming from the horizontal surface of the road, so it concludes that it must be a reflection of the sky off of  a puddle.  Cool, huh?

  7. Hi -

I ask questions no matter how trivial or mundane they may be to others. I also seek out others who may have the same questions or experiences and see if there is a common variable. The mind is an open playground so there is no absolute answer to disprove what our minds are capable of.

I may not always agree with skepticism, but I appreciate it because it helps me consider all possibilities I may have overlooked.

  8. I've had many strange ideas about how life is. It's all so mysterious, fascinating, and unknown. I have an imagination,so, I wonder a lot and Am curious. Then, I just think well it's unknown but, keep questioning. Good question.

  9. Hmmmm, to use ones imagination to explain natural occurrences around them.........I'd say the Bible is a good example of that.

In all honesty, I really don't know what you're asking.

Let's say an automobile accident happens, and how ever you perceived it to happen is your story and you're going to stick to it. Doesn't make it right or wrong. It's just how the brain perceived the information.

  10. You know what...I was a lot happier before I started questioning things and trying to understand things in life. I know that's called being a child. Wasn't it fun??!!

  11. I will contradict you a bit. The problem with enough people is that they think about things too much. I find it more appropriate for people to dare to experience! If I give someone a sheet of white paper and a #2 pencil, then say that they are to color the paper red, not something that represents the color but rather the actual color, it cannot be done. Too often "science" minded persons, use the same principle to claim the evidence of psychic activities and the like as non-existant. Therefore PSI is non-existant There are more than enough skeptics on this site that "think" extremists like James Randi or others are valid are enough to be credible to prove their case. I simply would like these geniouses to develop some credible way to prove their claims. I personally work with things that cannot, as of yet, be proven, that does not make them non-existant. I am not concerned with proof either way. I find that when I work with someone and they experiance something, science becomes irrelevant for that person. The question generally becomes, either how to learn to develop the ability to control it or how to block further experiances.

I liken the study of shamanism to using the ability to think. Often it is done by an anthropologist who has studied and thinks. Unfortunately it is often not from the viewpoint of the shaman. To put the experiance onto paper with the #2 pencil has limitations.

You may be able to think, and imagine what the paper would look like colored red, but to experiance it goes beyond that.

To be able to bring a subject to experiance OBE, CRV or other activities is where I find myself making progress. I'll leave the proof for others, I am solely limited to its functional properties and how to get it functional with each individual. That gives me enough to think about and work with, at times too much. I'll leave the rest to those who think with scientific method, but are too skeptical or afraid to experiance it, to figure out how and why. So far I find each person is different so they will probably be at it for a long time.
