  1. if you are alone just the two of you accross from her. It gives you a chance for eye contact. with another couple sit next to her. if you sit beside her when you are alone it looks kinda cheesey

  2. By youself; sit across from each other

With two random other poeple; sit however you want

With another couple; sit across from each other.

Sitting on the same side by yourself just looks silly. WIth another couple, it helps to keep conversation going and from the two couples jus ttalking to themselves. With others, it doesn't really matter. If it's your friends, sit on her side, if it's her friends, it doesn't really matter.

  3. let me tell you my story-my sister and i went out to meet this guy in person i had been talking to on the phone. well its a 4 seat table so me and my sis sit next to each other and wait for him, he comes in and sits next to my sis, across from me.  at first i didnt think that was cool because we were the ones that had been chatting, so after i got to know him, i asked him-remember that night i met you? why didnt you sit by me? he said" i wanted to sit across from you , so i could steal glances at you without being obvious." wow, i never looked at it that way. but from then on he sat next to me because i think its more intimate. but to answer your question i think most people tend to sit by each other instead of across. good luck with your date!!

  4. next to her in case she wants to get a little frisky

  5. if you are with a couple each couple should sit on their own side, facing the other couple.  if it is only the 1 couple at a regular table where there are 4 sides with 1 chair on each side (not a booth) then I prefer sitting next to each other so that we can talk quietly together and enjoy people watching together..  in a booth with just the 2 of you you should always sit opposite..

  6. facing your partner on the sides

  7. Sit however you want to sit.  It is really not a big deal, is it?
