My daughters 14th birthday is tomorrow- but she has a swim meet from 7am to about 2pm. What are some things we can do as a family later in the day? With a 8yr old girl and 10yr old boy, also. Thanks so much for your help. We'd like to do something that we really wouldn't do all the time like going to the movies, bowling, ect.

  1. Why not ask her?

Take her to her favorite resturant. Bowling/movies...

    Its her birthday.

  2. Mine always love to go on family birthday dinners. You can tell other relatives to come if they want and arrange for the staff to do the HB song and come out with a cupcake.

  3. I'd make a day trip to a special place. Like a state park, or a museum of interest, zoo, aquarium, a photo session for her (will be nice to have later in life to look back on), if there are any lakes or large bodies of water then maybe a dinner on a "house boat" ( don't know if they have things like that in your area...but If they do it's a neat thing). A waterpark trip with her best friend. I'd check recreation in your area for ideas. Those are all things I'd have enjoyed at that age. I don't know if she would or not though.

  4. go out to dinner or just ave a gather with some of her friend and teammates from the swim meet

  5. short notice, but see a play?  Go to a nice garden and just walk and talk and sit.  A Japanese hibachi restaurant where they do the crazy knife tricks.  Mom and Dad vs. the kids at video games (with refreshments and prizes of course).  When was the last time your really played video games and acted like a kid.  Plus the kids will smoke you and that will be fun for them!

  6. Go out for dinner at her favourite restaurant.
