David Lynn’s stars are shining bright
When David Lynn took the field at Ocean Course, it was his first tournament on the American soil and it was only his second appearance at any majors.
David had to skip the Austrian Open to protect his ranking for the PGA Championship and his last two rounds at the Ocean Course have earned him great respect.
He shot consecutive rounds of 68 in the third and fourth round to finish second, eight shots behind Rory Mcllroy.
His second place victory means that he will now get an invitation to the next year’s Masters Tournament in Augusta. It will be his dream come true to play at Augusta.
He said that he had always heard a great deal regarding it and finally he will now be taking to the field in the next year’s tournament.
An interesting fact is that his only win on the European Tour came at the Dutch Open back in 2004. To come out and play like this, that too, in a major is really something amazing.
"It is a little bit surreal right now," said Lynn, "I have never been exempt to play in anything in America, so that is the reason why I have never been over here. This is a good start".
Lynn is somewhat still in the hangover of the PGA Championship, that great feeling is still in him he says. "To come and perform the way I have this week in a major is very special and a great achievement. It has not sunk in properly yet to be honest," he
shared.
One of the biggest reasons for his success is probably the links setting, given at Kiawah Island. The dunes and the breeze that went along just gave a feeling of a links course.
There were as many as eight Europeans in the top, so one could imagine they must have felt at home.
"I have to say, with the wind, it probably is a little bit European. I noticed that I think there was eight players in the top 10 going into today's round were European," he added.
Humidity was one factor which David felt he failed to cope with, but he must come well prepared for it next year at Augusta. He also appreciated the crowd and the way the fans cheered for him throughout the four days.
