  1. A 'protest' of some kind might be fun - there were a lot of those in the 60's - I remember them well! It could be about civil rights, apartheid in South Africa, or workers' rights. A march with placards or a 'sit in' perhaps? I guess it had better be a peaceful non violent type of protest - items on Martin Luther King might be useful. Good luck!

  2. Just don't turn it into some kind of a spoof on the 60s without context, as many people tend to do.  Without understanding the Vietnam War and the histories of the protest movements, all of the protests, clothes, and music seem silly, rather than significant.  There is a lot to be learned from what happened in the 60s, but not if all they come out with is that everyone was high all the time, grew long hair for no particular reason, and espoused free love!

The "Generation Gap" was big then.  You can talk about their parents' lives, coming out of WWII, moving to the suburbs, and looking for stability and economic progress, then look at how their kids reacted because of their disillusionment with their parents' values.  A lot of the music does tell the story.  Look at the early 60s rock and roll v. that of the late 60s, full of political statements.

  3. Relax is best.

  4. I can [just] remember the 60s- the biggest thing I can remember was protesting against the Vietnam war.

Also a load of school kids died when a slag heap avalanched on a school in abberfan in wales.

There was also a disaster in Biaffra with thousands of starving kids.

At school lots was done in projects on the American space programme- Apollo which lead to the moon andings.

There was also the Cuba missile crisis [real scary at the time]
