  1. Before you waste a lot of money on parts that you may or may not need, you'll want to test the power supply. If you don't already have screwdrivers, Torx drivers, an ESD wrist strap, etc. then get a basic tool kit. Something like this should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... You'll also want to get a power supply tester, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

Once you have everything, unplug everything from your computer and open up the case. Attach the alligator clip on the ESD wrist strap to the computer casing, then disconnect the power supply from everything else inside of your PC and check it with the power supply tester. If everything checks out then put the power supply back in, take everything out of your computer except for the motherboard, CPU and RAM, and connect the power supply to the motherboard. Connect your computer to a monitor and see if it gets past the POST (if you see anything on the screen at any point, it passed). If so then start reattaching everything else one at a time until you find which device blew. For example, if you put your optical drive back in and you can't boot to a CD, then that drive is most likely bad and will need to be replaced.

If it doesn't pass the POST then it will give you an error code (a pattern of beeps). If it's a continuous beeping that lasts until you turn the PC off again, then the RAM is bad and you'll need to replace it. Otherwise you'll have to call the motherboard manufacturer to find out exactly what isn't working based on the pattern of the beeping. Replace whatever is causing the error and try booting up again. If it passes the POST then you can start attaching devices like I described above.

  2. instead of repairing the system.. better go for a new one.. as it is already old..

if you wanna fix it i hope you have to replace every part as the components in the system are very sensitive.. and problem might occur one after the other even if you are replacing them..
