  1. There are no valid points I can think of, other than saving weak people from themselves.  But even that's going to get torn up because if people want to be self destructive, they're going to be.

If you eliminate table games, like the one person suggested, all you're going to do is shut down the legit casinos so that the only places you're going to be able to gamble are illegal places that aren't regulated.  If someone's dumb enough to bet when the odds are against them, that's their choice.  I suppose he wants to make lottery games illegal too at that point.

  2. No.  People are going to gamble anyways, you can't stop it no matter how many laws are made.

  3. I can't think of any reasons because I'm not a moralist a$$hole, but I can tell you that your going to need to think of something else besides reducing crime. Gambling doesn't cause crime and you'll never be able to support that argument unless your okay with out right lies. Maybe that's not against the rules in debates.

  4. Its completely harmless. Its only a problem when you don't know when to stop. Same with alcohol, cigarettes, prescription drugs. All are not the best things in the world, but when you don't know when to stop, its a problem.

If gambling is made illegal, might as well ban arcades since that is gambling as well, and the stock market, thats also gambling, and the other things that are bad if you don't know when to stop such as alcohol and cigarettes.

  5. Gambling by itself should not be illegal.

I think most "casino" style games should be outlawed.   They are sucker games that have a "House edge". . I don't see how that is moral, ethical, or fair.

However, peer 2 peer gambling like horse betting, sport books,  poker, etc, should definately be totally legal.

There is much more skill and research involved...plus if you lose, it's your own fault, as opposed to being against the "house odds".
