what does it mean to have a 'vague memory' like in the song "I'll Keep Your Memory Vague."

It means that you will only remember some things about someone, not everything, just bits and pieces. Example- you would remember that this person has brown hair and brown eyes, but you won't remember how old they are or how tall they are or what their phone number is..get it?
