Degree help.....?

Question

I'hve read that , for those training to become pilots , it is preferable for them , while not necessary , to also do a degree.

My question is does it have to be a degree related to aviation?Like aeronautical engineering and such? or can it be anything else like say , psychology or english?

Could any pilots out there tell me what it is they studied?Degree-wise i mean.I'd really appreciate that.

Nobody in aviation cares what your degree is in.  You'll learn everything you'll need to know either through your flight training or through the experiences you'll gain by flying.  What the degree does is shows a hiring board you have the ability to learn, and the drive to complete something that takes a significant amount of time and dedication.  The best thing to do is get a degree in something that interests you outside of aviation to have a fallback... mine's in Political Science.  Now, if you feel that you have a better chance of completing an aviation degree than anything else, by all means do something that interests you and that you'll finish.  It's much better to have a degree in aviation then 70 credits towards a business degree that you couldn't finish due to boredom.

The more you know about your chosen profession, the better qualified you will be to do the job.  All else being equal, and employer will choose a pilot  with a degree in aeronautical engineering over a degree in English history (for example), because it demonstrates a desire to learn more about the job.

major airlines require a degree as well as most corporate companies and other more desiring pilot jobs.. it doesnt have to be a degree related to aviation but im sure it would definitely help. i studied "aviation flight science" at WMU.. they aslo had aviation maintenence,  and aviation administration.. in flight science, i took courses like aerodynamics, aviation law, aviation theory, aviation history, aviation physiology, crew resource management, aviation safety.. stuff like that.. WMU has a college of aviation, which is why they offered course like that..

If you mean will an airline hire you for a pilots position any degree will do.
