Dell inspiron 640m questions?

the ram on my 640m is only 512 mb and its shocking, is there any way i can upgrade this?

when i click properties of my computer on the start menu, the speed is often switching between 981mhz and 1.66ghz when it should be 1.66 ghz all the time? anyone know anything about this?

i only had this lapyop for 2 years but it is really slow, ive run programs to delete adware etc but it doesnt seem to speed up anything, does anyone know why this is?

please could you tell me how to speed up my computer as im getting really annoywed with it and my parnts wont allow me to buy a macbook so im stuck with this piece of rubbish.

I cant tell you for sure but it's like buy and risk, 1GB stick DDR ram pc3200 for laptop is around £30 if it works it'll fix yar problems.
