can ice be more dense than water is a glass? because the ice floats in the water, and the less dense materials float. but, ice and water are the same compound, just in different phases.

  1. No, if ice were more dense than water, it would sink. It floats.

    Air, any gas,  expands with increase in temperature, which lowers its density.  Although density is not thought of as a parameter you would measure in a gas.
