Deployed without signing paternity order?

My babies father and I did a dna test and he received the order of paternity before he deployed to kawuit but he did'nt sign it my question is are they not allow to sign after they are deployed. And is there not anything that can be done. He is coming home in September for R and R can something be done then.

I am an Army Wife and to my knowledge there is no reason he cannot sign while is deployed.  It may be easier to wait until his R&R to make sure he gets the order, signs and returns it within a reasonable time.  Sometimes things get lost in the military mail system.  My husband and I had that happen a couple of times.  If you don't know his specific mailing address overseas as well that is a problem.  My suggestion waiting until September may be your safest bet. If you are still talking you could always ask him to contact his JAG representative either over there or back in the states.  They will be able to clarify what to do.

With some of the court filings you must state that he/she is in the military. If he will be home soon, most courts will just wait. If he will be gone for long periods of time, the court might subpoena him to force him to return or issue an order of default if he is gone too long (rare for military deployments).

Of course this will all depend on where you live and local laws. Family law is traditionally the states' domain but military people have some protections under federal law.
