Desk top problems on start up?

Question

When I start my pc and the desk top icons appear it seems to take ages sometimes for my cursor to change to an egg timer and then to go into the particular programme that I want. This happens on all icons even my service provider icon Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you

you need more memory, so upgrade or close some programs down.as above

start

run ( also can be done by pressing windows key and r at the same time )

type in MSCONFIG

then from start up uncheck anything but the anti virus or anything u really want to run.

First open task manager and see if any program is taking too much persent of using your memery. If u don't c any then look at the System Idlle process, if that is 99% then disconnect internet first, if it doesn't help then start ending each application that is with your login and finaly u will find out which one make your system busy

Upgrade your processor and RAM as a second option, but first check for viruses using Spybot.

Most likely that you have too many programs running at start-up.
