  1. truffles as take home favors! or chocolate covered strawberries. decor...something rich. like pink and white or red and gold. have confetti around the plates...candles....if ure outside have paper bag lanterns........=) have fun!

  2. for favors maybe a little tray to keep 4 or 5 bonbons on the night table.could be pewter of whatever you can afford.covered with a little linen napkin and then the bonbons, could be chocolate covered mints...put inside those cute taffeta bags.

maybe write a note-(in a nice piece of hard paper,carboard-the kind with texture-i do not know the name... )on each that says "sweet zzzzz" make a whole on the side of the note and slip on the ribbon that will close  the bags.

  3. set up your desserts in one area if you can. cover your table with a table cloth and get a few boxes of different sizes and place them on your table (as risers for your dishes) then cover the table and boxes with another table cloth of the same color and then place all your dishes on top of the boxes- makes a great presentation to your desserts rather than having them all on the same level.

as far as other decor- have some nice flower bouquets on other tables and candles. I really don't think you need to decorate anything else like balloons or streamers or anything. just stick with nice dishes (check out Good Will or thrift stores for nice appetizer sized dishes to use instead of paper plates, they don't even have to match), table cloths are a must- you could even hang some Christmas icicle lights underneath and behind the table cloth for a pretty look to your dessert table. maybe a batch of refreshing punch- something a bit citrus for a bit of a sour flavor from all the sugary sweets. have nice music on in the background and have a great time! have some small bakery boxes for people to take any leftovers home with them.

  4. Decoration and set-up

Pink paper cupcake liners turn an ordinary strand of white lights into a string of delicate blossoms. Just cut a small slit through the center of each liner with a knife and poke the bulb through. Then drape the string along a mantel or a table's edge.

For the few offerings not meant to be eaten with fingers, provide plastic forks and spoons. Set them out wrapped in cute polka-dot paper napkins (available at Kate's Paperie, $6.50 for 16 @ katespaperie.com) tied up with a length of bakery string.

A dessert party is great for guests with children, so be sure to include coloring books, toys and child-friendly DVDs for kids. An entertained child means relaxed parents, and a better party for you.

For favors, wrap pretty toothbrushes in clear cellophane, tie the ends with bakery string, and attach a key tag that reads: “Sweet Tooth RX.” Place the brushes in a decorative container, like a silver julep cup, on a table near the door.
