Question:

Did I make a par?

I was wondering if I made a par today while playing golf, so I had played 8 holes on the front nine and then I played the front nine again and the 4th hole was a par 5, I made it in with 5 strokes which would make it a Par, but am I allowed to play the front nine again in the same round or is that against the USGA rules?

ONE more question, can your body be ahead of the tee box meaning any part of your body going over those 2 wood objects on both sides of the tee area? or is that a penalty?

  1. Yes, a par is a par.  For USGA handicap purposes you would not be able to turn in an 18 hole score with two front-nines.

To determine the area the ball must be teed from:  Take a line between the markers.  From the inside of each marker take a 90 degree line back using two club lengths. That box is the area where you can tee the ball from. The position of your body is not relevant.

  2. Yes it is a par

No it is not a penalty, the rule is that the teed ball cannot break the plane forward of the markers.

  3. Answer to the first question: you can do that in stroke play, but if it were a match it would be against the rules.

To the second question, it would be a penalty if the ball and body were in front of the tee box.

  4. You may play any holes, repeat if you want but you cannot count the score for handicap. You can record both nines which you have played. When you play the back nine alone combine it with one of the from scores making an 18 hole score for handicap purposes.. As for the teeing box, the only requisite calls for the ball not to be in front of the markers which designate the front of the tee box. You may stand outside the teebox to hit your tee ball. No penalty
