  1. Liston had one of the strongest left jabs in the history of boxing

  2. i believe he once knock an opponent out with a jab, so yes, he probably did have the strongest jab in history.

  3. Mnay journalists feel that (e.g. Bert Sugar) he had the most powerful left jab in the history of the Heavyweights.

  4. who is he?

  5. As great as a fighter as Ali was, I do think that Liston threw those fights - and he was murdered soon after so you do the math.  He was well known to be connected with the mafia - and they wanted a big payday with Ali.

I think he went to them and said "That's it! I'm not doing it again!" and paid with his life for it.

Liston was a great boxer who never got the credit he deserves.

  6. Sonny Liston's left jab is considered by many to be the strongest in the heavy weight history, his unusually long reach and his strenght made his jab extremely dangerous for his opponents, so yeah he definitely had one of the strongest jabs in boxing history.

  7. Ask Chuck Wepner about Liston's jab. It inflicted a broken nose, eye socket , cheekbone and approximately 75 stitches in Wepner's face. All from Liston's jab and this was the the very end of Liston's career, when most considered him an old man. Liston was led astray and never got his just due. Was one of the best heavyweights (not necessarilly) champion of all time. Would have given all a tough night.

  8. Sonny Liston had the CO strongest jab in history. Ironicall, the man that shares that title with him is the man that looked up to him as a boy, "Big" George Foreman.

The truly fascinating thing about Foreman is that he did not fully develope his Sonny Liston like "Telephone Pole Jab" until he was almost 40!

In the words of legendary trainer Gil Clancy, Liston and Foreman's jabs were like "Heavy Wooden Planks Crashing Through a Window"!

  9. Yes, I believe so.  He could knock people down with his long, stiff and very powerful left jab.
