Didnt relise people were so harsh?

Question

If you live in the UK you are most likely to have heard of Croydon, right?

What are you views on the place?

I went on this site, Urban dictionary and i typed in Croydon, heres what it came up with;

I used to work down in Croydon 2 days a week and used to find it fine.  I enjoyed people watching at lunchtime and there were always enough shops to keep me interested over lunch.  The people I worked with from Croydon were all lovely.  

I am sure there are parts of Croydon that are best avoided (as there would be everywhere) but the city centre was always fine.  (incidently before I started work in Croydon I was told it was the transvestite capital of the world - I never saw any or if I did they were very good!!)

That is terrible - likening Croyden to a sh*t hole - what an insult to sh*t holes.

I went to croydon college and my brother lived there for a bit. Unless it's changed alot in the last 4 yrs then its ok. I know a lot of people who go out in Croydon and enjoy it.

i suppose compared to some other areas of the UK it could be seen as a bit of a dump.

but hey, it could be worse, you could live in Luton ;-) now that is a real dump

You don't have to think very hard if you just want to vent on a blog. Several people put their opinions in about Croydon in America, a small district outside of Philadelphia.

  Croydon is a populous middle class district outside of internationally districts, like Westminster, and the West End, and City of London. That makes it ripe for a certain kind of abuse (like Burbank outside of Los Angeles).

  From what I read it is an up and coming metropolitan area with big plans to put themselves on the map. Nice homes, and a thriving economy.
