Difference between enamorada y novia?

Question

I was in Peru this summer and they say that you only use novia when you know it's someone you're going to marry (fiance). But that if it's simply a boyfriend or girlfriendo, you use enamorado(a). But i'd always learned to just use novia if describing a girlfriend. Is this just a peruvian thing?

Sí, it's different in different Spanish-speaking countries. I have also been told to use novio/novia when describing any type of boyfriend/girlfriend, and it has worked fine for me in other Spanish countries.

Ya, in Ecuador when I was there "novio" or "novia" could mean either boyfriend or girlfriend or fiancé(e), it was weird. haha

In Colombia enamorada means "in love" and novia means girlfriend who you may or may not be getting married with. Same for Mexico.

maybe it is a peruvian thing. enamorada and novia mean the same thing = girlfriend, but enamorada also means "a girl in love", and novia also means "bride" :/ ... i guess thast why they rather use enamorada instead of novia...

That's right, "Novia" is for fiance, its a person you a re un a serious relationship with.

Enamorada is , as in mexico, a person that is not a girlfriend yet but is in the process of getting there. Like if you where trying to get a girl, she would be your "enamorada" that means that you like her and you are trying to make her your girlfriend by.. u know.. flirting and pampering an all that..
