Question:

Different water causes pimple breakout???

I recently visited another country and when I came back 2 days ago, my face started to get a lot of small pimples and spots. This also happened when I moved from city to city on my trip. Could it be the different types of water and the chemicals in it? Also, what should I use to get rid of these spots?

  1. Yes indeed! Different water can cause a change in your skin. You may have heard of "hard" and "soft" water; this change, as well as different amounts of flouride and other chemicals, can cause a skin change. When I went away to school, I started breaking out really badly. Because I wasn't able to change the environment, and because face wash wasn't doing the trick, I started tanning at the tanning salon. This really worked for me -- it dried out the acne and I used lotion to prevent it from totally drying out my skin. Good luck!

  2. its because of the climate change..just make sure you get yourself acne cleanser..like clean and clear..that stuff works all the time even when i go up north for the holidays.

  3. same thing happened to me man when i went to a 3rd world country. I broke out bigtime. And I think its a combination of polluted water, air pollution and heat/humidity. All those cause your skin to be more oily and cause more bacteria which clogs the pores and makes zits. Best thing to do is bring water purifier with you and purify the water before you apply it to your face. But that might not work completely because now you have the problem with the air quality .

  4. The same exact thing is happening to me right now, and d**n isn't it a pain in the ***?

I just moved into a new apartment 5 days ago, and have been getting really bad breakouts on my face & upper chest/shoulders. Never had acne before, now suddenly at 21 this?

The best explanation - it's caused by the water changes, just as you assumed. The only thing you can do about it is get a toner (like Seabreeze facial cleanser, Stridex pads, or an actual toner product from Nutrogena, etc) - toners wipe away the residue that is left after washing your face, and the water probably is leaving residue on your skin.

My husband had this problem when he first moved from his home into the dorms. He said with the toner, and using other acne skin cleansers & masks (preferably Nutrogena facial wash, with the Nutrogena mask for 30 min or more) he said the acne all dissapeared within 3 weeks - enough time for his skin to acclimate to the water.

This blows, I know I feel ugly.

  5. Hey, Sea Horse, I bet it has more to do with stress, lack of sleep, change from your regular routine, etc. than with the water.

Give your body and psyche a few days and I bet all will get back to normal.

  6. Good question! When I moved from the country (well water) into the city my face has been experiencing acne which of I have never had before. I think you are right!

  7. That's a really good question. But if you started getting the pimples when you returned from your trip to the other country then wouldn't it have been the water in your home town that caused the flare up? I would say that there's a strong possibility it is the water. Since you said spots also appeared on your face, it leads me to believe that you could have had a minor allergic reaction to something in the water or another element. You should visit your doctor and they'll more than likely prescribe you something. If you're home now, it might just clear up on it's own.
