Question:

Digital Box Question?

I am currently a subscriber of basic cable in my home & the quality of the channels get sort of scratchy with that "white noise" type of thing. I was wondering if I bought one of those DTV boxes people are rushing to buy nowadays, if it would clear up those channels or would it not make a difference?

  1. The DTV Converter boxes work only for free Over The Air (OTA) TV, they will not work on cable.

That said, if you want to get one and watch the OTA digital broadcasts, they will be clearer.  Digital pictures can not get noise or ghosts.  You will need to have a good quality antenna to make it work well, though.  Visit http://www.antennaweb.org and put in your ZIP code for information on digital OTA broadcasts in your area.

You could use the converter box and cable on two different inputs of your TV or use an inexpensive RF switch available at many electronics stores to switch between the two.  That way you could have the best of both worlds.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

  2. it would not make a difference the only way to get clearer cable is if you get a cable box and you will have a LOT clearer cable! hope this helps :-)
