Digital camera can't take pictures?

Question

I have a Canon Powershot A300.

When i turn it on to take a pic, the screen that would show the image before i take it is black and fading. It can't take pictures...perhaps the lens is broken?

Can I get this fixed?

P.S. I haven't use the camera in a very long time...it's been in a case in a desk droor.

Change your battery. You should check your battery everytime you want to use your camera.

Canon has a recall on that camera because of a faulty CCD sensor. If you send it into them, they will send you a replacement. See link below.
