Question:

Digital convertor/TV/VCR question?

I have a TV (of course), a VCR, and a digital convertor. When installing the convertor I routed the antenna as such antenna>convertor in; convertor out>VCR antenna in; VCR antenna out> TV. When I try to record a TV show from the TV it turns out very badly, when I try to record using the VCR tuner it doesn't work at all.

What am I doing wrong?

  1. The VCR must be tuned to the output channel of the converter and the converter must be on when you're recording.

  2. You must use the tuner in the converter box to select your input channel. The converter then converts the digital video analog signal and modulates this signal out its coaxial output port on a fixed channel. If you are using the tuner in your VCR to pick off this channel, then your VCR must be selecteing the channel used by the converter box. This usually is channel 3 or 4. Using any other channel on the VCR will yield no signal input.

  3. You must use the tuner in the converter box to select your input channel. The converter then converts the digital video/audio information received on that channel to a 480i analog signal & modulates this signal out its coaxial output port on a fixed channel. If you are using the tuner in your VCR to pick off this channel, then your VCR must be selecteing the channel used by the converter box. This usually is channel 3 or 4. Using any other channel on the VCR will yield no signal input.
