Question:

Directions on the London Underground?

I've used the underground before and am fairly confident using it with a map...but there are two journeys I will be making soon and I can't seem to make sense of either of them on the map, anyone able to give directions station to station?

Journey 1- Waterloo to Hammersmith (this is the nearest tube station to the Hammersmith Apollo right?)

Journey 2- Waterloo to Tottenham Court Road

  1. The Transport for London website has a journey planner plus maps of the Underground you can use to work out your journey.

There are three lines into Hammersmith, the Piccadilly line and the Hammersmith & City Line.  The Piccadilly/District line Station is closest to the Apollo.  For Hammersmith I would take either the Northern or Bakerloo lines out of Waterloo and change to the District Line at Embankment.  If you wanted to take the Piccadilly line, take the Bakerloo line to Piccadilly Circus or the Northern Line to Leicester Square & change.

To get from Waterloo to Tottenham Court Road, take the Northern Line to Tottenham Court Road.

  2. Journey 1 - Get on the northern line northbound, change at leicester square onto the picadilly line (westbound), get off at hammersmith.

You could also change at Embankment whilst on the northern line northbound and get the district line westbound, just make sure you get on a train that ends at either Richmond or Ealing Broadway or you could end up in the wrong place.

Journey 2 - Dead easy. Get on the northern line (northbound) at waterloo, and get off 4 stops later at Tottenham court road.

  3. you can get on at any underground, that takes you through the whole of london, from epping to the nothern line.

  4. from waterloo take the northern line to embankment

then take the westbound district line direct to hammersmith

    for waterloo to tottenham ct.rd

    just the northern line  northbound
