Question:

Disabled parking in Central London ?

I am visiting London this week. We have paid a one off payment for the congestion charge so it does not matter what part of London we drive in. I am hoping to visit the London Eye and the Science museum and am hoping someone will be able to tell me wether or not i am likely to find disabled parking spaces somewhere near these 2 places.

  1. Try this website for blue badge spaces in general:

    http://bluebadge.direct.gov.uk/index.php...

However, more specifically, for the London Eye try this page on their site (this is a really helpful page, as it tells you how to book in advance which may allow you to queue jump!):

    http://www.londoneye.com/VisitorInformat...

And for the science museum check out this page on their site:

    http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visitmus...

I would also recommend going to Buckingham Palace, as disabled access allows you to drive in and park in the palace itself, just like the Queen! My Mum is disabled and she and my Dad did it and said it was really good fun! Plus, my Dad got in free as a carer (getting a carer in for free is something worth asking about at all sites, as they often don't advertise it), so it was quite cheap. Email buckinghampalace@royalcollection.org.uk or phone (+44) (0) 20 77667300 for information about facilities and access.

    Have fun in London!

EDIT: Just saw someone else has posted that you are eligible for a congestion charge exemption. Although this is true, you have to pay a £10 fee to register for the exemption, so unless you are planning to come into the congestion charge zone a lot during the times the charge is applicable (i.e. Mon-Fri 7am-6pm, excluding bank holidays), it is actually not worth all the paperwork!

  2. if you're looking for disabled parking, then I assume you must be a Blue Badge holder ... if that's the case then you're eligible for exemption to the Congestion Charge, see http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/congesti...

another poster has already given you the link to the Blue Badge parking map ... all I would add is to say that you should always look at the disabled parking signs carefully as sometimes they are exclusively for a named car, and some local authorities (e.g. Camden) have disabled parking bays that are exclusively for their own Blue Badge holders
