Dear Christina G Wilkinson,

It was nice speaking with you about your Discover Card Account. Thanks for taking the time to discuss your Account and sort out this payment arrangement.

We appreciate your recent payment of $352.00, which is being processed. An adjustment in the amount of $39.00 has been made to your Account. Naturally, if for some reason your payment is returned, the above adjustment will need to be reversed.

We applaud your resolve to get your Discover Card payments back on track. Please keep in mind that we're here to help. If you have any questions, simply contact us at 1-800-347-7761.

Sincerely,

Daniel Roland

  1. It's fake.

Don't reply to the email. Delete it.

  2. Call Discover Card customer service at 1-800-DISCOVER.  The number they gave you is a Discover number, just not their customer service number.  They may have just sent this incorrectly.   ***

  3. Call the number in the email or go to the discover card website and get the number to customer service (assuming the one in the email isn't real). Tell them the info and see what they say to do. If the last names match or you know who the person they're looking for then there might be a bigger issue, But I would just start with calling them and letting them know that it's not you and to remove anything that is you off the account, like your email address.

  4. Maybe consider getting another email address? You don't want to inherit this woman's credit issues and have it affect your score if you get associated with the same email address. Discover are a very reputable credit card company and do not sne d spam or engage in other illegal practices. So either the email is fake and you don't have to worry, or this woman has given them your email address - this seems very unlikely. It is probably a fake but if it is real change your email.

  5. It's an email. You must ignore any emails like this.  There are so many millions of people just waiting for some one uneducated in scams to fall for it.

Delete it and forget it.  Block that email address.
