Most support for Indian removal came from a desire to expand westward with more farms and plantations. The Indians were not considered civilized enough to be able to assimilate to American life, to the national government they weren't even considered full citizens. it is clear, however, that there were people that thought the indians had worth. The indians made great efforts to mimic American society, treaties were made with them by the government and they even went as far as to use the American court system.

  1. The problem is racism. You are correct the Indians did honor treaties and they did try to live with Harmony with the whites. The US just wanted their land plan and simple. That is why they were removed. Everything else is just an excuse or a reason to justify.

  2. I can believe that view would have been used to support those actions.
