Dishwasher not resetting before new cycle

Question

Model: Indesit D41Before starting a new cycle you first need to select reset on the dial. When doing this, the drainage pump operates for about a minute followed by the pre-wash light blinking indefinitely and I cannot get a washing cycle to start. There is no water present at bottom of unit and I have tried pouring a basin of water into the unit and repeating the procedure. The water is pumped out but the cycle refuses to initiate.The indesit helpline have suggested that there is a leak in the base and water is trapped in the base, can this easily be fixed?
