  1. I guess there's nothing wrong with your PC, Defragment process in my PC takes about 10 hours...

    Addition :

My harddrive is Seagate 80GB Barracuda. Full of small files like .HTM and .GIF...

  2. The disk defrag program in Windows is garbage. It constantly restarts, and never actually finishes. I suggest that you remove all of the temp files that you can before you defrag. Use this tool. It is easy, free and won't trash your computer:

You didn't mention what version of Windows you are runnings, so here are several suggestions:

(I use the Power Defrag for my own computers and for my customers -- I fix computers).

If you have Vista, try this:

    Good luck

Use one to defrag your computer

  4. It shouldn't take that long with windowsXP or Vista.

have you done a disk check? disk check is right next to where you do the degrament stuff...

it checks your hard drive for erros... maybe you should do that first. there are two types. one checks right there on the spot, and the other does it while rebooting.... do both.

  5. if you are using windows yes it will take a few hours they cant make anything right but there are many defragment programs on the net one of the best is  provided on the link you can use other stuff beside defragmenting to speed up your computer download and run every program below, your computer myby
