I'm going in Sept but know I should make them now. Do you need to provide them why anything besides a name and # in your party even if you don'r have all your resort plans booked? I'm waiting for them to announce the free diner plan but want to reserve some character dinners first.

  1. Go ahead and make as many reservations as you can.  They do not need to have any info except name & number of people dining.  :-)

  2. You can book up to 180 days prior to your date for Disney World dining.  You should definitely book now if you can, regardless of whether or not you have finalized your resort plans.  Booking at 180 days used to reserved for resort guests only, but that is no longer a requirement.  Although, some of the specialty meals, like Cinderella's Royal Table will require a credit card.  But most of the regular restaurants will not.

Here's a handy FAQ to Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs), as Disney likes to call them, over at Allears.net:

  3. At Disneyland you can only do them 60 days in advance. I'm not sure if Disneyworld is the same way. ^_^ Hope that helps.
