  1. I have a couple of friends that work for Disney in Florida, and they all tell me the same thing... They went in to try out as a certain character (one for Belle, the other for Jack Sparrow), and they got the part, however they were changed up after a certain amount of time (I think after 6 months).  That's why you'll notice a different character with every season.  So you can try out for a certain character, but what Disney is REALLY looking for is a good actor/entertainer that can play every part.  So I suggest learning them ALL and then trying out for a neutral character (i.e. none at all, just show them your talent), and then you will be placed accordingly.  What you should really focus on, though, is your singing and dancing ability... There are a lot of actors/singers/dancers that go into Disney wanting the same thing, and all have been training since a young age.
