Hey my whole family is going to disneyland this sunday. My 17 month yr old nephew is going with us. we want him to see the finding nemo ride since he loves the movie. I was wondering what rides he can go on though. I know he cant go on indiana jones and all that but can he go on the rides such as winnie the pooh and peter pan since they are slow rides?

P.S. please no answers like why would you bring him to disneyland when he wont remember it cuz we all just wanna have good family fun :]

  1. Some fun rides you could bring him on are the Astro Blasters ride. He might like the teacups to. Those are both some slow rides. You can also try the Alice and wonderland ride. The one with the catipillars. Mabye peter pan to! :) try those, im sure he will have a blast. Oh, also try these, dumbo and the carisel. There you go!

  2. There are a lot of options for a 17 month old!!!  Especially in Fantasy land.  I would recommend:

-The Carousel: A classic, and anybody can ride it.  A big hit for younger kids

-Dumbo:  Very popular for the younger crowd, be warned that lines can become very long!!!!  Otherwise, he will probably love the feeling of "flying" and will want to do it over and over.

-Peter Pan's flight:  The line may be long, but if he's seen the Peter Pan movies, he'll probably love the "flying" feeling again.  I can voice for this one when I say that it really does feel like you're flying.  The ride is mostly in the dark, but only because they don't want you to see the wires.   If he knows the movie, he won't be scared.

-Alice in Wonderland:  The caterpillars, not the teacup.  If he knows the movie, he'll love the ride!  Very similar to Peter Pan in that most of it takes place inside where it is rather dark... but no scary, jumpy out type things.

-Storybook land boats:  There are absolutely no scary, dark parts on this ride... and the people who operate it are very nice!!  You travel in a boat through different fairy tale lands where you'll see things like Cinderella's house, Aladdin's "Cave of wonders", Snow White's house, and the 3 little pigs houses.

-Casey Jr.: A must do for someone his age!  What little kid doesn't want to ride a train?  It's not nearly as intense as a roller coaster, but more a simple ride around the track.

    - It's a small world:  Unfortuantly you're going this weekend and it won't be open, but keep it in mind for the future!

    - The Teacups:  Some kids love it, others don't.  It depends on how much your kid enjoys spinning around, for that is all that this ride does!

    - Astro Orbiter:  A classic ride.  Climb aboard a rocketship and spin around.  It's very similar to the Dumbo setup, and may move a little faster.

-The Tiki Room:  Not exactly a ride, more of a show.  It's one of my favorites and great for all ages.  A word of caution:  if he doesn't like thunder storms or particullarly loud noises, steer clear of this one.  There is one part where the tiki statues start singing and then it "rains" and there is "thunder".  I've actually been in a showing when a kid has started crying.  Just be sure to know what he likes.

    - Mickey's Toon Town:  This place was designed practically for kids his age.  He can do things like climb aboard Donald's boat.  Visit Mickey and Minnie in their houses and go in Goofy's bounce house (he may not be quite big enough for this yet).

    -  Pirate's:  I've heard of 17 month olds riding this and loving it, I've also come of the ride with a 5 year old who didn't like it at all.  It does have a few drops and some very loud and dark parts too it.

Most importantly, know what he likes and doesn't like.  Also be sure to explain what the ride is like before he gets on it.  Don't force him to do anything he doesn't want to do, and if he rides the ride but doesn't like it...inform him that it wasn't real and find a happier alternate.  Also, be sure to look up height restrictions for rides before you leave.

I think that 17 months is a great time to visit Disneyland.  If you think he won't remember it.. take lots of pictures and purchase an autograph book so he can look back at all the characters he met.

But most of all.... have a fun and magical time!!!
