Question:

Disputing a credit card charge?

Is there a way to find out more information about a (certain) credit card charge without outright disputing it? I am unsure about a certain charge, though it is possible it is legit. If I had more information about the charge I could determine it's legitimacy, but is there a way to get this information without opening a dispute?

  1. Call the credit card company and ask for a copy of the receipt.  They will send this to you.  In the meantime, if you are not disputing the charge, continue making payments on it.  After you receive the copy of the charge, and it is not yours, then dispute it.   ***

  2. On the credit card statement there is a phone number next to the company/person making the charge.  Call and inquire about the charge.  If not satisfied, say nothing to merchant, but contact credit card company and dispute charge by requesting a chargeback.

  3. no not realy -- it may be something as simple as a dba that does not list the actual name of the business where you made the purchase
