Distance for Clubs?

Question

Can anyone please tell me how far the avg distance is for each club.

Im 16 years old and started about 6 months ago.

I can hit my 3w off the tee about 220 yards.

My Pitching i can hit about 110.

3 iron 190 yards, 4 iron 180 yards, 5 iron 175 yards, 6 iron 170 yards, 7 iron 160 yards, 8 iron 150 yards, 9 iron 140 yards

It varies a lot. Take Mickelson and JB Holmes. Mickelson is about 270 off the tee with a driver, while Holmes is 300+. Mike Weir hits it about 270 if he's lucky off the tee. There is no true average.

Unfortunetley, if you want to play high school golf, coaches sometimes look at distance. If you are impecable with accuracy and putting and the short game, then you will get playing time, but to be a good high school golfer, you should hit your driver about 250-260 (min) off of the tee. Its one of the sure ways to make the team and play.

Your 3 wood distance is good, but how far can you hit it off of the fairway? Also, I would work on getting the distance of your PW up as well to about 130-140 at least, and then working up from there.

A rule of thumb that I have been taught is 10 yards plus or minus for each club from a 7-iron being 150 yards for the average player...

3-iron 190

4-iron 180

5-iron 170

6-iron 160

7-iron 150

8-iron 140

9-iron 130

PW 120

SW 110

60 degree Wedge 75-100

I played high school golf just last year, and the longest ball ive seen hit with a 3 wood was 300, downhill and downwind.

On an average

3 wood is about 225

5 iron is about 180-200

7 iron is about 150-160

Pitching wedge is about 120-130

There is no average!  Age determines a lot.  Wait a couple of years and distance will come.  Look at the pros....even the best players in the world are 2, 3 and sometimes 4 clubs apart.  Do not compare yourself with them.  

Distance will come.   I am 24 and hit my 3w off the tee about 255 and wedge about 135
