Dj sound system for out doors?

Hi. Im looking to purchase some sort of system to play music via a laptop for a crowd of around 800 people outdoors in a large space. I want a system that that can also support a microphone. This system should have enough power so that people far away can hear it fairly clearly. I also need to purchase the system at a Best Buy, Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics or another store near Boulder Colorado. Please help thanks!

800 people is a large crowd the rule of thumb is 5 watts a person so you are looking at a 4000 watt system.

Minimal that should be used is Dual 15" tops with horns and dual 18" subs. This type of system will run in the neighborhood of $3000 used and $8000 new even with inexpensive components.

Your best bet is to head down to your local Guitar Center and talk to someone in Pro Audio.

Ryan - You really cannot get that equipment at a Best Buy or Circuit City.  Check the Yahoo Yellow pages for "sound systems".

You really need to go to a store that sells musical instruments and sound systems.

Look in your phone book yellow pages to for "musical instruments".  Many of those store also have PA systems.  You might consider renting the equipment too.
