Question:

Do I apologise to him?

I liked this guy a while back, and thought he liked me,so i flirted continuously until it came to head and he told me he wasn't interested . Now it's really awkward seeing him in class everyday, since we keep avoiding each other and don't make eye contact. Now I feel like I've ruined what was previously a good friendship and just want to get him to be civil again, since we have group projects to work on. My misgivings stem from the feeling that he just wants to be left alone, plus I don't want to seem clingy since he might think I'm still trying to get him to like me. My friends think I shouldn't since they think he'd been leading me on, but they've never seen us together and can only go on based what i tell them, although i try to be as impartial as i can when i tell them about what he said or did.

I asked this in 'Singles and Dating' and only got one answer, and i'd really like a range of answers together with reasoning, please.

  1. The guy seems like a d!ck for sure, possibly g*y?? I think 99% chance though this guy is an @$$hole, I know this kind of guy, and I'm not fond of it.

Ugly chicks have flirted with me a lot, I'm not saying you're ugly, but if someone I'm not interested in flirts with me, I just say I'm busy whenever they want to "get together/hang out" or anything, and if this guy was ANY SMART at all, he would know that

ugly chicks are the gateway to hot chicks via friend dating express

ugly chicks |friends with and talk to| -> hot chicks -> hot chicks hear info about how nice a guy you are from ugly chicks and that you aren't shallow -> you win hot chick at expense of leading ugly chick on and/or sacrificing some dignity and actually doing something with ugly chick to pacify her

    sorry for being so blunt

    * PLEASE do NOT apologize to that LOSER! *

you put yourself out there, a respectable "risk" and got turned down, he should apologize to YOU

  2. It would make you a better friend if you just went to him and offered a simple appology, and let him take it from there. Don't assume that once you appologised to him that he is going to want to talk to you everyday, he probably is still a bit overwhelmed at the situation. Give him space and let things go at that.As for working on class projects together, well you are in high school and as such you all should be learning the meaning of professionalism. If you are put in the same group, then do the work you have been assigned, and leave your personal baggage at the front doors. I have a feeling once he realizes you are not going to repeat the same mistake twice, he will come around and be your friend again. Good luck.

  3. Yes, I'd say overdoing the flirting kind of killed it. But don't apologise to him.

Instead, just talk to him when you have to about schoolwork or whatever. And when you're done talking about the schoolwork, say thanks and walk away. It'll be clear to him that you no longer have an ulterior motive to talk to him, and don't worry about what anyone else things, it's not important.
