If someone is a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army ROTC in high school, then can they enlist out of HS and actually be a 2nd lieutenant?

  1. Nope.

In order to become an Army Officer, you must go through the United States Military Academy (West Point), ROTC, or OCS.

P.S. High schools are JROTC. Colleges have ROTC.

    -Army Pilot

  2. No, but if you completed JROTC in high school it will help you if you applied for ROTC in college because you can get credited for your JROTC time in high school

  3. No, sorry JROTC carries no weight in the military or in ROTC.

  4. h**l no! You can enter at a slightly higher pay grade however

  5. Not very realistic is it?  No they do not cross but they can help you if you become enlisted...you could possibly get E3 or if you opt for a commission it may give you some consideration over your classmates for positions  in leadership in the class...

You need to talk to an officer recruiter for more specifics...

  6. No, while JROTC teaches basic leadership it is nothing compared to the actual training leaders get in the real army (OCS, WLC, etc.).  From my experience, you can make LTC in JROTC by your senior year, how fair would it be if someone fresh out of high school was able to transfer that rank to the regular Army with the real ones taking up to 20 years to get that rank, not counting ROTC/West Point/OCS?

The most you can get if I'm not mistaken is PFC if you do three or four years.  If you do one year you get E-2.
