Do colleges offer private dorms?

Question

I mean do most well know colleges offer them? I KNOW there ARE colleges out there that offer private dorms but sometimes they slightly more expensive. Money is not an issue in my family, I am just curious.

Some colleges I am applying to:

Vanderbilt

NYU

Cornell

UCLA

UNC-CH

TUFTS

U of Michigan

any of these offer pvt. dorms?

By private dorms do you mean single dorm rooms?  Most have a few, but they are usually a lot more expensive than shared rooms.

yes but often not to freshman. They go to upper class men and are highly competitive. Most people want a private room

I had a private dorm room during part of college, and it wasn't much more expensive than a shared room.

Someone at a different university told me, though, that at his school, having a private room meant paying double the price of a shared room, so there's probably considerable variation from school to school.
