Do it yourself seed heating?

Hi! I wish to plant some seeds but where I live (Southern hemisphere) it's winter time and probably too cold to get away with it if I leave it up to nature.

I was going to purchase an electrical heating pad and apply wet paper towels with the seeds sandwiched in between, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get my hands on an electrical heating pad for a few weeks or so and I'd like to begin within the next two days.

Any bright minds have some good ideas on how to build a makeshift heating pad that supplies constant warmth - but not too much?

Grow the seads in a flat wooden filled with earth that is supported some distance from the floor. To apply heat use an elecrtical filament lamp of suitable power (25 W or less may be enough) and adjust its position until the box is at the temperature you require.

If you are able a thermostst switch can be used to switch off the lamp if and when the temperature gets to be too high. Such switches are used with tropical fish-tanks, together with small heaters too.

Get a plastic milk crate, get one of those round metal spot lites (110). Place a round metal tub or something similar on top the crate with the lite under neath.
