Do olympians take days off?

Do olympians take days off while training? I hear people like Phelps spend 5 hours in the pool, everyday. Do they ever take a day off, or is that part of their success?

They only take days off after they have a "meet" or game. Other than that they only rest when they sleep or are done practicing.

I guess they could if they wanted to. I think that Phelps did that for personal refernce. But also I guess that if you are on a team that needs to interact with their teamates to win, like basketball and gymnastics then you have practice to go to. But after practice you can pretty much do what you want.Hope this helps!
