Do plecos play dead?

Question

the sales lady at the pet store said plecos play dead when they are upset. (such as being removed from the tank) if so our is still "playing dead" 8 hours later.

Yeh Plecos are funny, they do like to play dead lying on their side or even their back.  As another answerer said try prodding him gently with your net.  Also Plecs tend to laze around through the day and then feed at night.  Hope this helps:)

never noticed it with mine...

mine just go straight to the nearest rock or log and start eating when I move them.

Put either the end of a fish net or another object other than your hand near the pleco or even slightly touch him, if he does not even flinch push him a little bit, if he does not move then you will know.
