  1. OH yes.  And they're generally quite unfriendly: nip a lot, temperamental, and they're not very intelligent.  They also wee EVERYWHERE:(

  2. not really!

  3. not too much but aliitle

  4. well i don't have a pug but my neighbor has one and i have only heard it bark mayb once and its been about 5 months or so, so i would say no

  5. My pug is awesome.

Pros:  doesn't bark really at all--makes more of a yodeling sound that is really adorable, or yips when he's really excited.  He is not particularly vocal though--except for the loud obnoxious snoring, which is cute in its own way.  My pug is also very social and friendly, both with people and other animals.  He's absolutely wonderful with my 2 yr old son who wrestles him to the ground daily--they're pretty equally matched and both love the tussles.  He had never bitten anyone at all.  His fur is the smoothest thickest most luxurious fur I've ever felt on a dog and he just loves to snuggle on me and be petted.  He loves to ride in the car and is great on a leash for walks.  He doesn't mind wearing little t-shirts (though I don't dress him up often--just with my husband's company T's when we walk in the city for advertising purposes).  Best of all, everyone loves pugs, so you get lots of attention too.

Cons:  well, to be perfectly truthful, pugs are slow learners about potty training.  It was pretty tough at first and using a crate didn't make a bit of difference and was a waste of money.  Mine caught on eventually though, and we've never had an accident since.  The other bad thing is that they are wanderers, so keep yours on a leash at all times and get them microchipped at the vet.  They just don't have that instinct to stay close to you when outside like other breeds do.  Mine shimmies under our fence occasionally and gets away, but since there are 6 pug families in our neighborhood, we're all pretty good about returning the little traveling guys (and gals).  They also shed, a lot.  Next, you have to be exceptionally careful about cleaning and drying their face wrinkles or they get stinky from yeast.  You can get medicated wipes from the vet for this.  My pug doesn't like water at all, not even baths, and our vet warned me that pugs can't and shouldn't be made to swim.

    Good luck!

Oh yeah--forgot:  they are eating machines.  They will eat until they blow up.  And they will get fat.  My pug exercises daily with our black Lab so he's very fit and slim, but it's a struggle every mealtime because he tries to make you think he's wasting away from starvation.  He is completely insulted by the scant 1/2 cup of food the vet recommended 2x a day.  I keep a tight control on the treats too because I do not want a 30 pound pug I cannot lift.  The other pugs in our neighborhood are twice the size of mine--except for the lady that has 3 and is a runner.

  6. only is you beat him

  7. When they want to play or they see somebody they havent seen in a while they will bark.

  8. I have a chug that yaps constantly.  She has a bark collar on to help her control it.
