Do water purifications really work?

Question

I just bought one and hooked it up to my kitchen sink. Are they any facutal articles saying they don't actually do what they are doing? No opinons please, just the facts.

what kind of system.  A Pur or Brita filter or an R.O.  Pur and Brita remove chlorine.  R.o. systems work great.
