Question:

Do you HAVE to BUY ringtones?

I have an LG Scoop from Alltel, and I just bought a 2GB sandisk micro SD card.

I successfully moved pictures and music from my computer to the phone using the card, but as far as I can tell, it's impossible to set your music as ringtones.

I even put some short soundclips, mp3 format, in the "MY AUDIO" folder that the phone automatically creates on the memory card. But instead of showing up under the "MY AUDIO" folder on my phone, which is where you browse your ringtone collection, the files instead appeared in the "MY MUSIC" section.

Is there any way to get ringtones without actually having to buy them?! They don't even offer the ones I want.

Is it that I'm using the wrong file type, mp3? Any answers from someone in-the-know? Thanks in advance.

  1. www.ventones.com

You've asked at the right time, because I know the answer to this one.

is the ONLY site that works for Alltel. Don't waste your time with any other site. I know because I have the same phone and its the only good site around. The only thing is that you can't use a cable or the mp3 files in your memory card. You need to download the file from your phone's browser.

If you have those mp3 files, this is what you do

    1) make a FREE account, don't worry, its spam free and real safe

    2) upload the mp3 file you want to make into a ringtone

    3) crop it with their online tools

    4) they will text you a link.

    5) When you get the text message, open it, click on the top right where it says "Options", then go down to "Go To Website"

and wait for it to download to your Media Contents folder.

Then you will get the Set As Ringtone option.

Ventones is amazing, I was surprised because no other site works, and for FREE you can't beat that. Much better than paying alltel $3 for some lame 20 second tones.

  3. i had the same problem a while back, but go to www.myxer.com and make an account. it's free and i have had it for a long time and no problems or anything. the only catch is that the ringtones require you to have internet to download them to your phone, but it really doesn't use a lot.

  4. go to myxer.com

most ringtones on there are free. and you can make your own.

    its an awesome website ^_^

  5. www.myxertones.com

you can just choose a part of any song, and it'll send it to your phone in a txt message.  download it and save it as ringtone

i get all mine from there
