It is hard to find good things about Macbeth, yet we are supposed to feel sorry for him.

And what is your reason behind your answer?

Btw this is not a homework question.

  1. Wow, I JUST finished this book yesterday for English class.

Well, in his heart, Macbeth IS a good man.  He's strong, willing, kind.

However, he is 'moldable' (if that's a word).  He's like play-dough.

People around him make his life what it is.  Lady Macbeth forces him to kill Duncan, by testing his manhood.

Once he does kill Duncan, and become king, then he learns that the prophecies are becoming true; thus the Witch's control the rest of the play.

He begins to kill innocent people, in hopes to remain king.

However, if it weren't for Lady Macbeth or the Witches; Macbeth would be a strong soldier fighting for Duncan.  But a poisoned mind caused him to become "evil".

  2. It is because Macbeth was not an evil man at heart, but he let himself get caught up in evil.  In the end, he was only a man who let his power corrupt him--something that can happen to anyone.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
